Like Newton’s ‘aha’ with the apple, our CEO and founder, Mario Medina, had an ‘aha’ that became the seed for drvn. At that time, Mario was working for a tech company where he would often think about why some industries did not adopt technology as fast as others.
When traveling on business he noticed two technology gaps in the chauffeured services industry. The first was the logistics nightmare of scheduling and booking using phones and faxes. The second was that though he had many great drivers, there was little driver consistency.
However, there was one exception to the second gap - independent drivers he found by word of mouth. This inconsistency was pronounced most among those who worked (often unhappily) for larger black car companies. Invariably, the ‘independent operators’ Mario used offered the better experience. To him, they felt like chauffeurs - professional and courteous, not taxi drivers.
Simply put, these ‘chauffeurs’ performed better than drivers employed by someone else. Thus, the idea for drvn took root. First, we developed a world class logistics platform, and then building, market by market, an independent operator network of professional chauffeurs, drvn was born.
